Job Description

A computer operator manages, monitors, and maintains computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment to ensure daily data processing and IT systems run smoothly.• System Monitoring: Watch computer systems, servers, and networks for error messages, performance drops, or failures.
• Job Execution: Run scheduled batch processing, routine reports, and nightly system updates.
• Data Backups: Perform and oversee regular data backups and recovery procedures to prevent information loss.
• Troubleshooting: Fix basic software errors, hardware malfunctions, or printer issues, and report major faults to senior IT staff.
• Maintenance: Carry out routine preventive maintenance on hardware and keep accurate logs of daily system operations.
• User Support: Assist office staff or clients with basic technical questions and system access requests.Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with modern operating systems (Windows, Linux), basic networking, and office productivity tools (MS Office, Google Workspace).Hardware Competency: Ability to set up and maintain peripheral equipment like printers, scanners, and backup drives.Problem-Solving: Quick thinking to diagnose system interruptions and resolve them under tight deadlines.Communication: Good verbal and written skills to report issues and assist internal users.Education & Experience: Typically requires a high school diploma, vocational certification, or a degree in computer science or a related field, alongside basic hands-on experience.
