A hair stylist cuts, colors, and styles clients’ hair while providing consultations and recommending retail hair products, Consultations: Listen to client preferences and recommend cuts or colors based on face shapes and hair types.Hair Services: Wash, cut, trim, blow-dry, color, highlight, and style hair for daily looks or formal events.Treatments: Apply specialized scalp and hair treatment products like hydrating masks.Sales: Cross-sell salon hair care and retail products.Maintenance: Sanitize tools and keep the work station clean.Client Relations: Build lasting relationships to encourage repeat bookings.Licensure: Valid state or regional cosmetology or hair styling license.Education: High school diploma or equivalent plus an accredited cosmetology program.Communication: Strong interpersonal and active listening skills.Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions.
